Biblical Diets - Healthy Living, Heathly Eating

Faith-based diet books
Jordan Rubin isn’t the only author to combine Christianity with diet and nutrition advice.

Chantel Hobbs: Never Say Diet (WaterBrook Press; $13.99) and The Never Say Diet Personal Fitness Trainer (WaterBrook Press; $10.99)

“Look, I’ve been there,” says Hobbs, of Coral Springs, who lost 200 pounds. “I know what it’s like to feel hopeless. However, by making a commitment to God and to myself to be the best I could be, my focus shifted from brownies to better living.”

Dr. Ben Lerner: Body By God: The Owner’s Manual for Maximized Living (Thomas Nelson; $22.99)

The chiropractor from Celebration, Fla., offers a fitness and nutrition program called Rebuild the Temple. His life management programs are “designed to build healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy relationships — the way God intended.”

Judy and Arthur Halliday: Thin Within: A Grace-Oriented Approach to Lasting Weight Loss (Thomas Nelson; $14.99)

What started in 2002 as a simple diet has grown to a nationwide network of church-based support groups. “Through the power of God’s Word, Thin Within helps you grow in faith while shrinking your waistline,” according to thinwithin.org.

Dr. Don Colbert
The Seven Pillars of Health and The Bible Cure for Weight Loss & Muscle Gain (Strang Communications Co.; $19.99 and $6.99)

“Our mission is to teach The Church, Our Nation, and Our Neighbors around the world to live and thrive in better health,” according to the DrColbert.com.

Gwen Shamblin
The Weigh Down Diet (Galilee Trade; $14.95)

This dietitian’s program is a worldwide phenomenon with classes online and in churches.

“We are born with a void — a void that God placed inside of us so that we would search for Him and find Him,” she writes on her Web site, WeighDown.com.
